This poem was written by Sara T. after having seen Super Bowl ’13 commercial “So God Made a Farmer.”
And on the 8th day, God looked down and said I need a group who care
about Food, People, and Serving Others
so God made an MG employee
God said…I need someone who can be up before dawn to fix breakfast,
work all day to fix lunch and dinner, and stay late to be sure
everything is ready for the next day
so God made an MG employee
God said I need somebody willing to be the last one out the door after
a late night catering event, saying “things went well, but next time I
can make it even better”
I need someone who can get everyone fed with no power, stretch the
last pans of food to feed the 25 unexpected guests, put together 300
box meals before lunch, make leftovers into a fabulous new dish
so God made an MG employee
God said I need somebody strong enough to lift a case of number 10
cans, pull a case of chicken off the top shelf of the freezer, load
and unload the van for an offsite event, yet gentle enough to open a
milk carton for a child, carry a tray for someone who needs a hand,
carefully and thoughtfully listen to a customer concern
so God made an MG employee
It has to be somebody who will follow recipes and systems and not cut
corners; batch cook, bake, take temps, clean, sweep, mop, slice,
chop, garnish, hustle, juggle, serve, and laugh and then sigh and then
reply with smiling eyes “How can I help you?”
so God made an MG employee
