It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of a dear MG friend, colleague, and leader, Leslie Spiegel Phillips, who passed away early on October 27th.
Leslie was not only our bold leader but also a fantastic friend to the entire Meriwether Godsey family and our client communities.
Leslie joined Meriwether Godsey in 2005 after 16 years of law practice. Her initial role was Director of Business Development, where she not only secured new business contracts but forged many meaningful client relationships. In addition to leading MG’s growth, she impacted both Marketing and Systems Development, guiding efficiency and sophistication in both arenas.
Throughout her 20-year tenure, Leslie was a key leadership partner to our founder, Rie Godsey, assuming the roles of President & COO in 2012 and CEO in 2017. Leslie steered the Company during the COVID years and the subsequent decision to join HCSG.
Although her roles changed over the years, she was always a champion of Meriwether Godsey’s unique culture and stayed connected to her many client friends. She was not only a great leader and competitor, but she was also engaging and fun.
A celebration of life will occur November 9, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Level 10, 323 2nd St, Charlottesville, VA. Leslie loved all animals and supported the Lynchburg Humane Society. She was also a loyal supporter of the Awareness Garden, where she spent many hours of reflection and remembrance. Donations may be made in her memory to lynchburghumane.org or awarenessgarden.org.
